Description Larger than many nations, Ontario offers a diverse natural landscape which includes the vast, rocky and mineral-rich Canadian Shield that separates the fertile farmland in the south and the grassy lowlands of the north. The north boasts more moose and deer than people while the south holds almost 40 percent of Canada’s population. One third of the world’s fresh water supply is in Ontario, with over 250,000 lakes and its shared border with the United States of America is almost completely defined by water. Ontario is one of the most multicultural societies in the world where more than half of all immigrants to Canada are settled in. Cultures from around the world thrive and are celebrated with some of the largest festivals such as Caribana (West Indian) and Oktoberfest (German). Visitors can enjoy many experiences in Ontario from a wilderness excurson to our oldest and largest park: Algonquin Provincial Park to a ride up one of the seven wonders of the modern world: the CN Tower. |
